A mixture of 5-tert-butyl-4-methylthiazol-2(3H)-imine (250 mg, 1.5 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) was treated with triethylamine (0.25 mL, 1.8 mmol) and 5-chloro-2-methoxybenzoylchloride (307 mg, 1.5 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 18 hours then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with ethyl acetate and H2O. The organic extract was dried over MgSO4, filtered, concentrated under reduced pressure and dried under vacuum to afford the title compound (490 mg, 96% yield). MS (ESI) m/z 339 (M+H)+.
