Intermediate 2 (2.45 g, 8.72 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (50 mL). LiOH solution (1 N, 13 mL) was added at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 2 h and at room temperature for 16 h. The reaction mixture was acidified with 1 N HCl, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was washed with brine and dried with MgSO4. After evaporation of the solvent and drying under vacuum, a yellow solid was obtained, and was used for the next step without purification.
