To a solution of 3-bromo-4-nitro-1H-indazole (Preparation B; 2.2 g, 9.1 mmol) in DMF (18 mL) was added potassium carbonate (2.5 g, 18 mmol) at ambient temperature. After 15 minutes, at ambient temperature, 3-(chloromethyl)-1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazole hydrochloride (1.8 g, 9.1 mmol) was added. The mixture was allowed to stir for 18 hours. The mixture was concentrated, diluted with ice-water and stirred for one hour. The resulting fine solids were collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to give 3-bromo-1-((1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)methyl)-4-nitro-1H-indazole (3 g, 91% yield).
