Procedure

Tert-butyl((3R,4R)-3-methoxy-1-methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-carbamate (3.01 g) is combined with HCl (4 molar in dioxane, 25 mL). After 1 h the reaction mixture is freed from the solvent in vacuo and used in the next step without any further purification.
