A solution of 1 g of 4-(5-chloro-oxazolo[5,4-d]pyrimidin-2-yl)-2,6-dimethyl-phenol in 5 ml of dimethylformamide was added slowly to a suspension of 1.2 ml of tert-butyl bromoacetate and 1.3 g of potassium carbonate in 15 ml of dimethylformamide. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min and then heated to 50° C. for 4 h. After cooling, the solids were removed by filtration and the solvents were distilled off in vacuo to give 1.4 g of the crude title compound as a pale yellow solid.
