Procedure

A mixture of 0.89 g (2.3 mmol) of 1-benzyl-3-(RS)-(4-(4-fluorophenyl)piperidinylmethyl)-4-(SR)-hydroxyethylpyrrolidine, 2.9 g (17.7 mmol) of ammonium formate and 0.39 g of Pearlman's catalyst [Pd(OH)2/C] in 30 mL of MeOH was stirred at 70° C. for 1 h. The reaction mixture was filtered through a thin pad of Celite and the filtrate was concentrated to give 0.7 g of the title compound.
