Procedure
26 liters of chlorotrifluoroethene were introduced from a gas burette into a gas-tight stirred apparatus containing a mixture of 244 g (1.0 mol) of 5-hydroxy-2-(4-nitrophenylazo)pyridine, 138 g (1.0 mol) of potassium carbonate and 2 liters of dry DMF. The mixture was filtered through Celite, and the solid was washed with 1 liter of acetone. The solvent was removed from the filtrate by evaporation on a rotary evaporator. The residue was taken up in 2.5 liters of ethyl acetate and washed four times with 500 ml of saturated sodium chloride solution in each case.
