Procedure

Prepared by a method analogous to that of Example 1(b) from 10.94 g (20 mmol) of 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-3-isobutoxycarbonyl-4-(2-nitrophenyl)-5-(2-phthalimidoethoxycarbonyl)-pyridine and 3.0 ml (60 mmol) of hydrazine hydrate. 8.06 g (96%) of a viscous yellow oil are obtained. This product is used for reactions without further purification.
