Procedure
1.02 g (5 mmol) of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthylamine, 1.24 g (5 mmol) of 4-iodobenzoic acid, 820 μl (7.5 mmol) of N-methylmorpholine, 360 mg (2.5 mmol) of Cu2O and 15 ml of dioxane were introduced successively into a round-bottomed flask. The entire contents were heated at reflux for 24 hours, the reaction medium poured into 15 ml of 5N hydrochloric acid, the precipitate filtered and the latter washed with water.
