Procedure
To a stirred solution of 6.26 g of trans-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenyl-4-piperidinol, 7.21 g of triphenylphosphine, 4.76 g of 4-bromophenol and 250 ml of benzene is added dropwise, at 5° C. under nitrogen, a solution of 4.79 g of diethyl azocarboxylate in 250 ml of benzene. After the addition is complete, the mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture is processed according to the procedure of Example 75 to give product as a gum.
