A solution of 0.03 g (0.05 mmol) acetic acid 3-(4-{[(4-chloro-benzenesulfonyl)-(2-oxo-azepan-3-yl)-amino]-methyl}-phenyl)-[1,2,4]oxadiazol-5-ylmethyl ester in 1 ml tetrahydrofuran was stirred with 0.2 ml (0.2 mmol) 1 molar aqueous sodium hydroxide for 3 hours at room temperature. Water and aqueous hydrochloric acid was added to reach pH 1. Extraction with ethylacetate, drying with sodium sulfate, filtration and removal of the solvent by distillation yielded 0.02 g (98%) 4-chloro-N-[4-(5-hydroxymethyl-[1,2,4]oxadiazol-3-yl)-benzyl]-N-(2-oxo-azepan-3-yl)-benzenesulfonamide as white solid, MS: m/e (%)=491.0 (MH+, 100).
