6-{[4-(3-Nitrophenyl)but-3-ynyl]oxy}hexyl acetate (2.973 g) was hydrogenated over PtO2 (300 mg) in EtOH over 1 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration and washed with EtOH. The combined filtrate and washings were concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (2.844 g) LCMS RT=3.30 min.
