Procedure

To a solution of the ester from Step 7 (23 mg, 0.048 mmol) in THF (3 mL) and MeOH (1 mL) at RT was added 1M LiOH (0.24 mL, 0.24 mmol). After stirring at r.t. for 4.5 hours, HOAc (10 drops) was added and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was taken up in EtOAc/H2O and the organic phase was washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), and filtered. Upon removal of the solvent, the resulting solid was stirred with 1:5 EtOAc:hexane to give a beige solid (20 mg).
