Procedure
A solution of 1,5-dichloro-2-(methylsulfinyl)-4-nitrobenzene (1.0 g, 3.9 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 ml) was added 3-Chloroperoxybenzoic acid (1.7 g, 9.8 mmol). The mixture was stirred under nitrogen at room temperature for 3 h. The mixture was added saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (20 ml) and extracted with dichloromethane (50 ml). The organic layer was washed with brine (50 ml), dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography eluting with hexane/ethyl acetate (2:1) to give 1 g (100%) of the title compound as white solids.
