A solution of 24-2 (3.13 g, 9.28 mmol), potassium carbonate (1.75 g, 12.6 mmol), and 2-methyl-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde (1.04 g, 8.51 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was warmed to 40 ° C. for 5 h. The mixture was diluted with water and extracted four times with ether. The combined organics were washed with brine and dried (Na2SO4). Purification via silica chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) afforded the title compound 24-3 (1.67 g).
