To a N2 covered suspension of 0.909 g (6.0 mmol) of the product from Step 2 in 12 ml of dimethyoxyethane was added 1.43 g of diphenylcyanocarbonimidate. After stirring 16.5 hours at room temperature, the reaction mixture was diluted to a volume of 75 ml with Et2O. A suspended solid was collected on a filter and washed well with Et2O to yield after drying 1.62 g, m.p. 210.5°-211° C. (91.2%) of the titled product. Procedure C was then followed with the above intermediate to prepare Compound 30, m.p. 193.5°-194.5° C.
