Procedure

Potassium carbonate (1.1 g, 8.2 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-iodoindazole (1.0 g, 4.1 mmol) and bis(2-chloroethyl)ether (1.5 g, 10.3 mmol) in ACN (20 mL) at rt. The reaction was heated to reflux overnight, and the filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to give 800 mg (56%) of the title compound as a yellow oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 3.47 (2H, t, J=5.6 Hz), 3.60 (2H, t, J=5.6 Hz), 3.94 (2H, t, J=5.2 Hz), 4.58 (2H, t, J=5.6 Hz), 7.20 (1H, t, J=7.6 Hz), 7.41-7.49 (3H, m). The minor isomer was not isolated or characterized.
