To a mixture of 12D (7 g, 0.027 mol) and 1-chloro-propan-2-one (3 mL) in DMF (30 mL) was added K2CO3 (4.1 g, 0.029 mol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 1 hour. TLC monitored the reaction. After the reaction completed, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and added dropwise to ice-water. The precipitated solids were collected by filtration to give a crude product 12E (6.8 g, 79.6% yield).
