A solution of (5-amino-pentyl)-{2-[(3,5-diamino-6-chloro-pyrazine-2-carbonyl)-amino]-ethyl}-dimethyl-ammonium bromide (Intermediate O) (1.0 g, 2.35 mmol), 4-benzyloxy phenyl acetic acid (0.57 g, 2.35 mmol), N-methylmorpholine (1.0 mL, 9.09 mmol), DCC (0.49 g, 2.35 mmol) and HOBt (0.32 g, 2.36 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) is stirred at RT for 1 h. The reaction mixture is concentrated in vacuo, and the residue is purified by column chromatography (basic alumina, 0-4% methanol in DCM) to afford a brown solid which is crystallised from methanol and EtOAc to afford the title compound.
