Procedure

Lithium hydroxide (12 mg, 0.28 mmol) is added to a stirred suspension of {2-[(3,5-Diamino-6-chloro-pyrazine-2-carbonyl)-amino]-ethyl}-methoxycarbonylmethyl-bis-[3-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-propyl]-ammonium trifluoroacetate (Example 24) (113 mg, 0.16 mmol) in methanol (9 mL), and the resulting solution is stirred at RT for 3 days. After this time the pH of the solution is adjusted to 1 using 1 N HCl solution, and the solvent then removed in vacuo. The residue is washed with water (10 mL), and dried in vacuo to yield the title compound as an orange solid. M+ 585.
