trans-2-Bromo-1-indanol (2 g, 9.39 mmol) and sodium azide (0.915 g, 14.08 mmol) were combined in DMSO (20 mL) and stirred at 75° C. for 3 hours. The mixture was worked up with EtOAc and H2O, and the combined organic layers were dried and concentrated to give the title compound.
