Procedure

A mixture of 2-methyl-5-[1-methyl-1-(4-nitro-phenyl)-ethyl]-[1,3,4]oxadiazole (1.36 g, 5.5 mmol.) and Pd/C (68 mg) in EtOAc (50 mL), was stirred under 1 atm of H2 for 16 h. The resultant was filtered over Celite®, and the filtrate was concentrated to give the titled compound as a pale yellow crystalline. MS: 218 (M+1) calc'd for C12H16N3O—218.12.
