3-(5-(2-Hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-oxo-1,3-dithiol-4-yl)quinoxalin-2(1H)-one (6) (130 mg, 0.405 mmol) was partially dissolved in CH2Cl2 (10 mL). Benzylchloroformate (125 μL, 0.81 mmol) and triethylamine (120 μL) were added and the resulting yellow solution was stirred overnight. The volume of the solution was reduced to ca. 3 mL and it was purified by chromatography (silica gel, CH2Cl2) to give pure 4,4-dimethyl-4H-5-oxa-1,3-dithia-6,1,1-diaza-cyclopenta[a]anthracen-2-one (7). Yield: 82 mg (70%).
