Treatment of ((2R)-8-(biphenyl-2-yl)-6-fluoro-2H-chromen-2-yl)methyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (1.36 g, 2.79 mmol) with platinum (IV) oxide (84% Pt, 0.35 g) in ethanol (40 mL) and ethyl acetate (10 mL) according to the procedure described for Example 69, Step 8 provided 1.30 g (96%) of ((2R)-8-(biphenyl-2-yl)-6-fluorochroman-2-yl)methyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate as an off-white solid. MS (ESI) m/z 489.2 ([M+H]+); m/z 506.2 ([M+NH4]+).
