To 9.4 g (83 mM) of creatinine in 100 ml of anhydrous DMF was added with stirring of solution of 9.2 g (75 mM) 2-thienyl isocyanate in 60 ml of toluene. After the addition was completed, the mixture was stirred at 55° C. for 1 hr., cooled, and the solvents removed in vacuo. The residue was recrystallized first from ethanol and then ethyl acetate (treated with charcoal) to give 5.3 g of the above urea as an off-white solid, m.p. 191°-192° C. (dec.).
