Procedure

To a stirred solution of 3-(2,6-Dimethylbenzyloxy)phenylacetic acid (Step C, 6.0 g, 22.2 mmol), 1-Hydroxybenzotriazole (7.19 g, 53.2 mmol), and Ethanolamine (2.70 g, 44.2 mmol) in methylene chloride (30 ml) and DMF (5 ml) was added EDCI (7.66 g, 40 mmol) at 0° C., the resulting reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in methylene chloride (10 ml) and washed with NaHCO3, 0.1M HCl, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated and purified by flash chromatography on a silica gel column (chloroform:methanol, 9:1) to provide the title compound.
