A flask was charged with 4-(benzyloxy)-5-bromopyridin-2-amine (6.90 g, 24.7 mmol), and THF (250 mL). Benzoyl isothiocyanate (4.24 g, 26.0 mmol) was added and the reaction was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated, and 9:1 Hexanes:ethyl acetate (400 mL) was added to the residue. The suspension was filtered to give the desired product (10 g, 82.3% yield) as light brown solid.
