Procedure
A flask was charged with ethyl 2-(5-bromo-2-(4-phenethylthiazol-2-ylamino)pyridin-4-yl)acetate (1.123 g, 2.516 mmol) and THF (40 mL), and 1M sodium hydroxide (7.548 mL, 7.548 mmol) was added. The mixture was heated at 55° C. for 2 hours, and then diluted with THF and acidified with 1M HCl (8 mL). The reaction mixture was concentrated and the resulting slurry was filtered. The solids were washed with water and dried to give the desired product (1.035 g, 98.38% yield).
