Procedure
0.5 M Solution of 1-bromomethyl-2-fluoro-benzene (1.50 g, 8.0 mmol) in DMF was added dropwise to a suspension containing 1.09 g of 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethyl-benzaldehyde (7.3 mmol), 1.51 g of K2CO3 (11 mmol) and 120 mg of KI (0.73 mmol) in 100 ml DMF. The reaction followed the same procedure described in Example 3. The residue was purified on silica gel, obtaining a quantitative recovery of the title compound. (1.88 g)
