Procedure
4-(4-Fluoro-2-methylindol-5-yloxy)-7-hydroxy-6-methoxyquinazoline (339 mg, 1 mmol), (prepared as described for the starting material in Example 7), was dissolved in dimethylacetamide (5 ml) under nitrogen. (2R) Glycidyl tosylate (285 mg, 1.25 mmol) and potassium carbonate (345 mg, 2.5 mmol) were added and the reaction stirred at ambient temperature for 2.5 hours, then warmed to 40° C. and left overnight. The solvent was removed under vacuum and the residue partitioned between water and dichloromethane. The organic phase was washed with brine and dried (Na2SO4). The residue was purified by column chromatography, eluting with methylene chloride/methanol (97/3) to give 4-[(4-Fluoro-2-methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)oxy]-6-methoxy-7-[(2R)-oxiran-2-ylmethoxy]quinazoline (339 mg, 85%).
