A solution of 4-(2,5-dioxo-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta[d]pyrimidin-4-yl)benzonitrile (example 1, 40 mg, 0.10 mmol) in dichloromethane (1.0 mL) is treated with N,N-diisopropylethylamine (70 μL, 0.4 mmol) and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (13 mg, 0.11 mmol). Ethyl chloroformate (11 μL, 0.11 mmol) is added and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2 h. All volatiles are evaporated pi and the residue is purified by reversed phase HPLC (Waters Xbridge™-C18, gradient of acetonitrile in water, 0.1% NH3). Yield: 46 mg; ESI mass spectrum [M+H]+=470; Retention time HPLC: 0.90 min (Z011_S03).
