To a mixture of ethyl 8-bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carboxylate (490 mg) in a mixed solvent of THF (9 mL) and ethanol (3 mL) was added 8N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (273 μL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 hr, and then at 50° C. for 1 hr. The reaction solution was neutralized with 6N hydrochloric acid under ice-cooling, and the obtained solid was collected by filtration, and washed with water and IPE to give the title compound (380 mg).
