The mixture of (S)-2-(5-bromo-7-methyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinolin-6-yl)-2-tert-butoxyethyl pivalate (34 mg, 0.078 mmol), Pd(PPh3)4 (9 mg), 4-chlorophenylboronic acid (16 mg, 0.1 mmol), aqueous K2CO3 solution (0.15 mL, 2 M, 0.3 mmol) in 1,2-dimethoxyethane (2 mL) was heated at 100° C. for 90 minutes. The residue was diluted with ethyl acetate (100 mL), washed with NaHCO3 solution, water and brine, dried over Na2SO4. Concentration and purification gave (S)-2-tert-butoxy-2-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-7-methyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinolin-6-yl)ethyl pivalate (22 mg). LCMS-ESI+ (m/z): 470.3 (M+H)+.
