The product from Example 5, 8, is dissolved in THF (500 mL) and diisopropylethylamine (12.9 g, 0.1 mol) is added, followed by N-(2-t-butyloxycarbonylaminoethyl)glycine ethyl ester (24.6 g, 0.1 mol) and the solution stirred for 12 hours. The reaction is diluted with 1000 mL of diethyl ether and extracted 3 times with 0.1N HC1 solution. The organic layer is washed with diluted sodium bicarbonate solution, dried, filtered and evaporated to give a solid.
