Procedure

To a solution of II (1 eq.), 2-methylpropanal (1 eq.) and BH3(pyridine) (1 eq.) in THF:MeOH (1:3) was added PPTS (1 eq.). The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 12 h and afforded, after aqueous workup and purification by column chromatography, III as a colorless oil.
