Procedure

In 1 ml of water was dissolved 0.7 g of N,N-dimethylglycin hydrochloride. This solution was mixed with a solution of 1.0 g of 6-(p-aminophenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone in 20 ml of dimethylformamide. To this mixture was added under ice-cooling 1.2 g of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, and the reaction was effected for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to stand for 2 days in a cool place and concentrated under reduced pressure. Water was added to the residue and any insoluble matter was eliminated by filtration. Sodium hydrogen carbonate was added to the filtrate to make it alkaline whereby crystals were precipitated which were then recrystallized from methanol-water to obtain 950 mg of the end product. M.P. 195°-197° C.
