Following the procedure employed in Example 11, treatment of 5,6-dimethoxy-3-methylquinazolin-2,4(1H, 3H)-dione 1/4 hydrate with N-chlorosuccinimide gives the title compound after isopropanol crystallization in 67% yield, mp 224°-227° C.
