4-Cyanobenzoyl chloride (0.25 g) was added to a stirred mixture of N-(3-amino-4-chlorophenyl)-4-cyanobenzamide (0.39 g), triethylamine (0.51 ml), 4-dimethylaminopyridine (0.01 g) and methylene chloride (25 ml). The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 18 hours. The mixture was washed with 2M hydrochloric acid solution and with water. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4)and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel using a 49:1 mixture of methylene chloride and methanol as eluent. There was thus obtained the title compound (0.1 1 g);
