Procedure
A solution of 4-(4,4-dimethylcyclohexyl)phenol (2.16 g, 10.6 mmol), disiobutylamine (0.14 mL) and sulfuryl chloride (0.59 mL, 7.4 mmol) in toluene was stirred at 70° C. for 2 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, treated with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water, brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting oil was subjected to chromatography on silica gel, using hexane/ethyl acetate (20:1), to afford the title compound (1.7 g).
