Procedure

To a solution of ethyl ((1S)-5-{2-[(2,6-dimethyl-3-pyridinyl)oxy]ethoxy}-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-yl)acetate (Example 250, 43.1 mg, 0.12 mmol) in a mixture of THF (2 mL), water (2 mL), and EtOH (1 mL), was added LiOH (11.5 mg, 0.48 mmol). The reaction mixture was vigorously stirred for 24 h, acidified to pH ˜5 with HCl (1N aqueous solution), and then extracted with CH2Cl2. The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a white solid (36.2 mg, 91%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.72-1.75 (m, 1H), 2.33-2.44 (m, 2H), 2.37 (s, 3H), 2.41 (s, 3H), 2.68-2.85 (m, 3H), 3.52-3.55 (m, 1H), 4.19-4.25 (m, 4H), 6.67 (d, 1H), 6.74 (s, 1H) 6.85 (d, 1H), 6.99 (d, 1H), 7.01 (d, 1H); LC-MS: RT=2.41 min, (M+H)+ 342.3.
