In 50 mL of tetrahydrofuran is suspended 1.00 g of 3-hydroxy-2-pyrazinecarboxamide. Then, 3.5 mL of triethylamine and 1.67 mL of benzoyl chloride are successively added thereto. The resulting solution is stirred at 60° C. for 5 hours and cooled. The deposited crystals are collected by filtration. The crystals thus obtained are suspended in a mixture of 8 mL of water and 1 mL of 1 mol/mL hydrochloric acid, stirred at ambient temperature for 30 minutes, and collected by filtration to obtain 0.41 g of N2-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-2-pyrazinecarboxamide.
