Procedure

Sodium hydride (55-65% dispersion in mineral oil, 10 mg, 0.25 mmol) was added to a solution of (4-azepan-1-yl-2-methyl-quinolin-7-yl)-methanol (example 3, 50 mg, 0.19 mmol) and 1-bromo-2-methoxy-ethane (15 mg, 0.19 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL). After 22 h at 50° C., another portion of sodium hydride (10 mg) and 1-bromo-2-methoxyethane (15 mg) was added, and stirring was continued for 16 h. Then the reaction mixture was partitioned between 1 M aq. sodium carbonate solution and ethyl acetate. The organic layer was separated washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), and evaporated. Chromatography (SiO2, dichloromethane/methanol 9:1) yielded the title compound (20 mg, 33%). Yellow oil, ISP-MS: m/e=329.4 ([M+H]+).
