((1S)-1-phenylethyl)(2-bromo-5-nitro(4-pyridyl))amine. To a solution containing 2,4-dibromo-5-nitropyridine (500 mg, 1.75 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine (314 uL, 1.80 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (8 mL) at 0° C. was added (S)-(−)-1-phenylethylamine (225 mg, 1.86 mmol). The reaction was allowed to come to room temperature and stirred for 18 h. The reaction was complete via LCMS and the solution was condensed under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate, washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give the desired product (5.6 g, 99%). MS (ESI) m/z 322 [M+1]+.
