To a solution of 5-(9-Carboxy-nonyloxy)-isophthalic acid di-tert-butyl ester (156 mg, 0.34 mmol) in dry THF (2 ml) was added TSTU (125 mg) and DIPEA (0.08 ml). The mixture was stirred under nitrogen over night. The mixture was concentrated. The residue was redissolved in EtOAc and filtered. The filtrate was washed with 0.1N HCl (2×), and brine (1×), dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give a clear syrup.
