Procedure

To a solution of 2-[(6-fluoropyridin-2-yl)oxy]-5-(hydroxymethyl)phenol (0.42 mmol; 104 mg) under argon, in anhydrous DMF (0.8 mL), were added K2CO3 (0.5 mmol; 68 mg), DMAP (0.08 mmol; 12 mg), and acetic anhydride (0.41 mmol; 0.04 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature overnight. After dilution with ethyl acetate (4 mL), the organic phase was washed with saturated NaHCO3 (3*3 mL), dried (MgSO4), concentrated in vacuo, purified by preparative TLC (dichlorométhane) to yield the title compound as a clear oil (3 mg; 0.01 mmol; 3%).
