To a mixture of 4-(benzyloxy)-2-fluoro-1-nitrobenzene (2.00 g), potassium carbonate (1.23 g) and DMF (11 mL) was added dropwise 2-ethylhexyl 3-sulfanylpropanoate (2.02 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, and washed with saturated brine. The obtained organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to give the title compound as a yellow liquid (3.60 g).
