Procedure
tert-Butyl bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate (1.33 g, 5.49 mmol) obtained in step 1 was dissolved in THF, 2-methylinden (1.00 g, 7.69 mmol) and sodium hydride (2.16 g, 49.4 mmol) were added under ice-cooling, and the mixture was heated under reflux for 3 hr. The reaction mixture was added dropwise to saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution under ice-cooling, and the mixture was extracted several times with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried over magnesium sulfate, and evaporated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate=2/1) to give the title compound (1.19 g, 51%).
