Procedure
An operation was carried out in the same manner as in Example 14, except that 0.63 mL (0.375 mmol) of 2-naphthylmagnesium bromide (0.60 mol/L) prepared from magnesium and 2-bromonaphthalene was used instead of the anhydrous THF solution of phenylmagnesium bromide. Thus, (S)-1-naphthylphenylmethanol was obtained. The conversion rate of the raw material was 99%, while the enantiomeric excess was 80% ee.
