2-Cyano-acetic acid methyl ester (990 mg, 10 mmol) was dissolved in THF (30 mL). Hydroxy amine (690 mg, HCl salt, 10 mmol) was added thereto, and the mixture was stirred for 2 h at 80° C. After completion of the reaction, 1N HCl was added. The reaction mixture was extracted with EtOAc, and dried over MgSO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was used in the next reaction without further purification.
