A solution of 5-bromo-2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)pyridine (0.342 mg, 1.52 mmol), 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran (0.256 g, 3.04 mmol) and 4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid (0.058 g, 0.30 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran was heated to 75° C. for 6 h. The reaction was concentrated and purified using Biotage column chromatography (0-20% methanol in dichloromethane) to provide semi-clean product as an oil (0.614 g, 1.9 mmol, >100% yield). This material was used without further purification. MS (ESI) m/z 309.4 [M]+, 311.1 [M+2]+.
